TRAILER — $4,000 or Best Offer

During the process of selling this trailer, I want to minimize covid hazards.*  Therefore, before you can see the trailer in person, first you MUST...   1) read this web-page, beginning with the current Best Offers;   2) call me — 714-774-7934 (it's landline so is only for talking or voicemail, not for texting) — ONLY IF, after reading my honest and fully-detailed description of the trailer, you are willing to offer more than the current Best Offers.

* For example, if I sell the trailer using craigslist & letgo, a covid hazard might occur when one person (IF they have covid) enters the trailer and breathes air OUT, and soon afterward another person goes into the trailer and breathes IN the air that contains covid virus from the earlier person's breathing-out.   {also, if the first person touches a surface, and then the next person touches this surface}

    This page contains more trailer-details
(especially about its flaws) than are needed for helping you decide YES or NO.  Despite its flaws, basically it's in fairly good shape.  My main uncertainties are about its functionality for traveling, as described here;  but if you can tow it from here to where it will be used (which seems probable at low speeds, although not guaranteed) this won't matter much.

In this page, I'm providing information that will be useful for a potential buyer.  Guided by an ethical principle of The Golden Rule, I'll tell you things I would want to know about a trailer before buying it.

I won't sell it immediately, instead I'll wait for awhile (probably at least one day) because at the beginning I won't know what “the best offer” will be.  I don't know what a reasonable price is, so I'll “let the market decide” by seeing what people think it's worth.

Basically, I think the trailer is in fairly good condition (although not perfect) on the inside & outside.  Personally, I would be willing to “live in it” for sleeping (and having my personal space) in a situation where I could use the toilet-etc of a house, because I'm well adapted for heat (in summer) and in SoCal the winter is ok with enough blankets.

As you can see below, the trailer has a license plate;  and it's been registered for 50 years (it has the yellow sticker for 2020) but there is no title-paper (like the “pink slip” of a car);  instead I will give you a bill of sale, and ASAP I'll notify DMV about the transfer of ownership.

It's fairly clean now, and with some work it could be much cleaner;  e.g. the contact paper is old and wrinkled, should be replaced.   There is some water damage in various places, as described with photos-and-words in this page.   All of the five side windows open & close easily.  I haven't been able to easily open the back window (by bed) but probably it's possible.

It has no toilet, shower, running water, heating, or air conditioning.  It does have hookups for electrical (that worked in the past although not now, but probably could be repaired and re-connected) and for propane.

It's a classic vintage trailer (check this cool photo), a 1955 Roadliner.  But this means it's old, and...

AFAIK it hasn't been “on the road” for decades, it has just been used for storing things.  The tires hold air, wheels roll, it has a standard 2" ball hitch;  August 7, it was towed a short distance (about 70 feet of driveway) at low speed.  I think you could successfully tow it from here to where you want it to be, but I offer no guarantees;  it will be sold as-is.

To make it truly roadworthy – although this probably isn't your goal – would require some work (new tires, lubrication,...) if you want to move it around instead of just leaving it in one place for living in it.

Somehow the tire jack got lost, but it has strong metal frame-beams just before & after the tires (photos available soon), so a standard jack should work ok.

SIZE:  12' 2" long;  6' 9" wide;  7' 7" high;  inside, 6' 1" floor-to-ceiling in main areas.

Here are some useful details:

The lock on its door has two keys that worked a couple of years ago, but for some reason they don't work now.  I've tried WD-40 but this doesn't fix the problem.  Therefore, you probably will want to find a locksmith who can install a new lock.

BED AREA – 77" long and 48" wide,*  with the two flat sheets resting on five strong boards (48" x 3" x 1") for stability.  Also, on left side is an ICEBOX, STORAGE CABINET with MIRROR, and tall CLOTHING CLOSET that's 15" wide.     {This isn't a perfect fit for standard-size mattress, for the width of single (39") or double/full (54"), or length of regular (75") or XL (80") although it would fit a standard single (39x75) with a little extra space on the side for a bedside-storage box.   SINK — PROPANE STOVE & OVEN — MANY DRAWERS and STORAGE CABINETS — TABLE with BENCH SEATS.

STORAGE CABINET  (it has 3 compartments;  and other parts of trailer also provide lots of storage space)   ICEBOX  (ice goes in top section, which has drain pipe at bottom)

CLOTHING CLOSET  (15" wide);  all wood is in good shape with no apparent water damage.   WIRES  —  for electrical hookups (it used to work, doesn't now but probably can be re-connected)  (I'm not sure if THESE wires are for the taillights or for the trailer's electricity)

LIGHT above bed,  ELECTRICAL OUTLET for plugging in other things   CEILING — AIR VENT (opens & closes ok) (water damage maybe one-time from rainstorm? afaik it isn't ongoing problem but I'm not certain, haven't checked it during winters) — ELECTRICAL LIGHT — PROPANE LIGHT — LOOSE PANEL (on right side under Propane Light) that can be fixed with wood glue.

COUNTERTOP  (the main area is in good shape, but behind stove the surface needs to be glued down) — WATER FAUCET (I don't know how this works, how it gets its water, and so on)   STOVE and OVEN — my guess (but I don't know) is that the stovetop burners work well for cooking, but maybe the oven doesn't?

WATER-DAMAGED WOOD inside cabinet-above-countertop on left side above sink, but (as you see in other photo) not in the other cabinet.   CONTACT PAPER (very old & wrinkled) in cabinets-above-countertop, but this cabinet doesn't have water-damaged wood.   Similarly damaged contact paper is in the drawers below countertop.

WATER DAMAGE of table and wood under front window;  the rest of table-top (away from window) is in good shape, clean.

OUTER DOOR-PANELS show weathering, but I can't see any water damage.   INNER DOOR-PANELS show weathering, with some WATER DAMAGE on upper part and bottom.   Also, DAMAGED FLOOR just inside the door.

DAMAGED FLOOR just inside the door.    {btw, the panel on right looks damaged in this photo, but actually it's in fairly good shape.}   DAMAGED FLOOR just inside the door, with closeup-details of FLOOR and of WATER DAMAGE to bottom of INNER DOOR-PANEL.

FLOOR (on side near bed) has some discoloration, probably permanent.   FLOOR (on side near table) has much less discoloration.

TOP OF TRAILER (at back near bed) has deterioration of paint.   TOP OF TRAILER (at front near table) has deterioration of paint.

TERMITE DAMAGE happened here (in upper-front part of trailer) in the past (maybe 2005?) but it stopped, and afaik it never happened in any other part of trailer.   PROPANE TANKS (large & small);   and glued-together blocks of wood that were in compartment below the bed, that may (or may not) have some useful function for trailer.
